I first began these paintings over six years ago. At the time work halted on them because I felt both logistically and personally that I was not ready to complete them.

A day in the life of the studio… bronze sculpture. Here are some video clips from the last year of work in the studio. My studio is now split between fine art production, and the publishing and writing of my illustrated fantasy novel series.

The holidays have snuck up on me this year… my sense of time has been oddly skewed, making me wonder where the days are disappearing to! Time flies when busy, and I have been very busy…multiple trips to the foundry to collect the sculpture orders as they are completed and so much happening on the fantasy books side of the studio as well…

Shipping deadlines are well past now but I do have some small ready to ship sculpture, prints and other good things in the Holiday Shop. I also have some “Gift to Come” printable PDFs to present ahead of the items.

Sculpture days… it has been pretty busy in the studio over the last few weeks with foundry trips and getting sculptures ready to ship out… before I tidied the space it looked like a packaging whirlwind had blown through!

Many thanks to all who purchased a precasting for the Bushveld Collection and other works over the fall. With the exception of the last few orders which will go into the next batch of castings and be shipped after Christmas, all the packages have gone out!

This is the busiest time for the studio and it is not finished yet… next I will be switching gears to begin fulfillment of the Kickstarter rewards for the New Hardcover Version of Book One! I am awaiting the shipment of these offset printed hardcovers with excitement, and look forward to getting them into the hands of readers!

The first of the Bushveld sculptures have been completed! It is so lovely to see these pieces cast into bronze. I will be photographing, polishing and felting the bottoms over the weekend and getting the very first ones out to collectors next week.

I have cast an extra one or two of the smaller ones for my ready to ship bronze selection which will be featured in my annual Holiday Shop. I hope to get it open over the weekend!

Tundra Dweller: Musk Ox Bull, edition of 15. This beautiful guy is the first casting of this new edition, which features the single largest bull from my large Musk Oxen sculpture entitled ‘The Circle’.

This piece, the the only one cast so far, is now at @adelecampbellfineart in Whistler for their annual group exhibition- The Art of Winter opening later this month.

Very excited to see this guy out in the world.

Then it will be a flurry of polishing and photo shoots to update their listings on my website and Etsy. I will be launching this year’s Holiday Shop with these new Bushveld sculptures as the ✨ stars. I will have a copy of each piece not yet spoken for from the pre-casting special orders that will be available for immediate shipping…stay tuned.

Gentle Giant - a big beautiful heavily-feathered #bronze #clydesdale

It is so lovely to enjoy this beautiful big #fellow in the studio for a few days to photograph him and felt his hooves before he heads to @hambletongalleries

This piece has not been cast for quite a few years. He was originally commissioned by a lovely collector and I did a very small edition of 7 for the sculpture.

I had actually forgotten how large he was and took some pictures of myself with him to show his scale.

I have been immersed in long, quiet hours in the studio—building armatures, adding clay and the nuances of motion to bring the spirit of these beauties through into this body of work. Now, in this final stretch, it is about creating the surface texture and final details of this lovely collection of African Wildlife Sculptures. Pre-casting release will be August 10th!
