Bronze Bears & Birds

A Certain Whimsy...

Bears and bird subjects have been some of my most popular work. Many of these sculptures are small enough to hold in your hand which makes the appeal to collect several a joy. Brown and black bears can be difficult to paint because of the lack of definition in their fur and bulky shapes, yet as sculptures their personality can shine.

Birds are a special delight in my life and I am consistently drawn to sculpt and paint them. The green and turquoise patinas lend themselves beautifully to songbirds and hummingbirds.

A whimsical Addition to the Winter Bird Collection.

Nuthatches are one of my favorite birds. I love their torpedo-shaped profiles as they hang upside-down to search for food or hide the seeds they have gathered at our feeder.

The patina for this sculpture has subtle blue tones on the birds' backs with a suggestion of the white eyebrow lines and red breast.
