Please note: This sculpture needs to be cast. It will take about 2 - 3 months for the piece to be completed once an order is placed.
 
The quitessential prehistoric nature of the Rhino is undeniable. They can move with surprisingly speed despite their incredible bulk, and the image of a tank bearing down on you comes to mind when you see them head-on. They do not move quietly, like elephants, instead they bulldoze their way through everything with a clatter of stones and breaking of branches.
 
I'll be honest, I am in love with is fellow.
 
I have painted both Black and White Rhino in the past but this is the first time I have sculpted one. The process involved many additions of clay layers to ensure he had both the width and breadth required for his powerful frame. The sense of motion with a lifted front foot, and a dynamic turn of his great head were very intentional additions for this sculpture, ones that I hope will help him feel like he is about to trundle away.
 
Patina for this fellow will likely be tradition French Brown,  or Tawny, but with pre-casting special orders there is customization available for early collectors. 
 
Regular cast price for this piece will be between $3200 - $3500 CAD depending on my casting costs.
 
This sculpture is hand cast bronze using the lost wax method. All of my sculptures come with a Certificate of Authenticity in a custom folio.
