The Soul of Africa: Black Rhino
I was lucky enough to see Black Rhino while traveling in Namibia. In Etosha National park, in the north of the country, we watched them come to the waterholes at night. The Rhinos had their own personal body guards. Armed with automatic weapons, anti poaching rangers shadowed the animals night and day to protect them.
This is the last piece left from a series I completed featuring wildlife against a background of copper leaf and crackle medium, creating a highly textured surface.
Can you see the map of Africa?
This large painting of an African Black Rhino is 4.5 x 5 feet. It is painted with oil on exhibition style canvas. The edges are painted and it is wired to be hung without a frame.
The map of Africa behind the Rhino is copper leaf with a crackle surface rubbed with dark oil paint.
